O arroz irrigado está sujeito à interferência causada por fatores bióticos e abióticos; entre os primeiros, as plantas daninhas são as principais responsáveis pela redução na produtividade, interferindo diretamente nos componentes do rendimento do cereal. Objetivou-se avaliar o efeito de épocas de início de irrigação por inundação, época de aplicação e doses de penoxsulam sobre os componentes da produtividade de grãos de arroz irrigado, cultivar Qualimax 1. Weeds cause significant reduction in the irrigated rice crop yield. Cyperus esculentus (yellow nutsedge) is adapted to irrigate environment. Information on the competitive ability of the weed to the culture, and their environmental adaptation, are scarce. In this study, we sought to determine the initial growth and competitive ability of yellow nutsedge and irrigated rice, as a function of cultivar growth cycle. Abstract Interference from weeds directly affects the productivity and the quality of elephant grass (Pennisetum purpureum) fodder. The difficulty in controlling weed species is one of the primary limitations to the production and use of elephant grass as forage in dairy farming and for biomass production in energy generation. The objective of this study was to determine the different periods in which yellow nutsedge (Cyperus esculentus) interfered with elephant grass forage yield. ABSTRACT: Among the species of the genus Cyperus occurring in paddy rice, C. esculentus, C. difformis and C. iria are the most important, and the latter two are reported as resistant to herbicides in Rio Grande do Sul (RS). The aim of this work was to characterize and mapping the occurrence of resistant plants of the genus Cyperus in areas of paddy rice in RS State, and to analyze the agronomic factors that interfere in the resistance selection. Seeds from individual plants were harvested in the 2014/15 crop, characterized as control failures by the application of acetolactate synthase inhibitors (ALS), totaling 43 samples.
